Uganda Rugby Cranes reveal 36-man squad for Southern Africa high performance tour

The Uganda Rugby Cranes 36-man squad have been named ahead of the Southern Africa for a high-performance preparation tour ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup 2025.

The tour will be see Uganda prepare for the Rugby Africa Cup 2025 which is set for Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, from July 8 to 19, 2025.

Those included in the squad include Santos Ssenteza, Edward Emiemu, Fahad Maido, Julius Opio, Sidney Gogodyo, Frank Kidega, Byron Oketayot, Pius Ogena, Nathan Asiimwe, Saul Kivumbi, Eliphaz Emong, Brian Wandera among others.

The backs travelling include Conrad Wanyama, Yasin Wasswa, Shakim Ssembusi, Justin Kimono Simwende, Thomas Gwokto, Ivan Otema, Timothy Kisiga, Aaron Ofoywroth,  Liam Walker, Joseph Aredo, sevens captain Ian Munyani, Adrian Kasito, Haruna Muhammed and  Isaac Massanganziira.

The team departs Kampala on Wednesday, June 11, for a tour that will include three competitive friendly matches and two intensive training camps in South Africa, hosted by Blue Bulls.

The first stop will be a test match against Namibia on June 14 in Windhoek. From there, the team will travel to Nylystroom, South Africa, for a five-day training camp (June 16–19) before facing the Limpopo Blue Bulls on June 21.

The final leg will take place in Nelspruit, where the team will hold a four-day camp (June 23–26), culminating in a friendly against the Pumas on June 27.

A 36-man squad has been named for the tour. The first 24 players will travel to Namibia, with the remaining 12 joining the team in South Africa the following week.
