Kenya 7s have lost 17–12 defeat to the USA in their final group stage match at Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles.
Shujaa will now face Pool B runners up to determine their fate. Should they win they will be in division two next season.
The match began with a setback for the USA as Lucas Lacamp, the tournament’s top try scorer with four tries, was yellow-carded in the first minute.
Kenya capitalized on the opportunity; Kevin Wekesa broke through the defense to score the opening try, followed by Patrick Odongo adding another shortly after. Anthony Mboya converted Odongo’s try, putting Kenya ahead 12–0.

Kenya lost Wekesa who received a yellow card, and the USA leveled the score through Jacob Broselle. Goodrum then secured the win for the USA with a late try, finalizing the score at 17–12.
