Kenya Cup side Kenya Harlequin FC has officially announced the departure of Head Coach Paul “Pau” Murunga, effective today, May 1st, 2025 upon conclusion of his three-year contract.
The decision was reached mutually between the club and Murunga after a successful three-year tenure with the club having opted against extending the stay of the experienced coach.
Coach Paul Murunga Achievements
Murunga, who took over as head coach in May 2022, has been credited with revitalizing the club’s fortunes, leading Quins to significant achievements, including victories in the National 7s Circuit, Driftwood 7s, Ingo 7s, and the Mwamba Cup.
His contributions were recognized in 2023 when he received the Kenya Harlequin Spirit of Rugby Shield.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Murunga said, “It’s been a privilege to serve this great club. I am proud of what we have achieved.”

Kenya Harlequin Chairman Victor Sudi praised Murunga’s impact, noting his deep knowledge and passion.
“Paul brought deep knowledge and passion to his roles at Kenya Harlequin. We are grateful for his three years with Quins, and we wish him the very best in his coaching journey ahead. He will always be welcome as a friend at Kenya Harlequin,” Sudi said.
Director of Rugby Joel Nganga also lauded Murunga’s contributions, emphasizing his success in revitalizing the men’s squad and helping the club return to prominence in women’s and age-grade rugby.
“Paul leaves Kenya Harlequin as a winner,” Nganga remarked.
Following the conclusion of the 2024/2025 season, Kenya Harlequin has announced it will undertake a full management review, with a revamped team structure to be unveiled soon.
