Zimbabwean referee Gideon Muyambo Mensa has been appointed to officiate the highly anticipated Enterprise Cup final clash between Kabras RFC and Menengai Oilers.
This marks Muyambo’s second officiating assignment in Kenya, following his participation in the Safaricom 7s tournament.
His appointment was confirmed by the Kenya Rugby Union, who highlighted his arrival in the country, noting: “Gideon Mensa, the referee from Zimbabwe who will be officiating the #EnterpriseCup final, soaking in some views at View Point. Remember to grab your tickets for the match at tikohub.com/events/273. Come witness the Rai derby and experience some Zimbabwean excellence.”
A former standout player, Muyambo was the MVP during his final year at Hillcrest Leopards and later captained the star-studded Mutare Sports Club Shumbaz from 2014 to 2019.

After retiring from playing in 2019, Muyambo transitioned into officiating under the mentorship of Walter Njower.
He quickly made his mark in refereeing, earning the Zimbabwe Rugby Referees Society (ZRRS) Rookie of the Year award prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
His breakthrough came in 2022, his first full year of officiating, where he was named ZRRS Most Improved Referee and Traveller of the Year.
In 2023, he went a step further, sweeping accolades including ZRRS Referee of the Year, Most Disciplined Referee, and Manicaland Referee of the Year.
