KCB Rugby have qualified for yet another Eric Shirley Shield final following an 18-10 win over Kenya Harlequin at KCB Sports Club.

Levy Amunga was first to dip his feet in the water early on, taking on Charles Kinyanjui to a speed contest on the outside only to be judged to have flirted with the touch line.

The visitors would strike first from the boot of Allan Odiyo after the home team failed to stay onside in defence just outside their 22.

Elvis Namusasi would squander a chance to pull the Bankers ahead, center referee Saidi Kenya rulling for a held up before Wilfred Waswa would make up with a try from the back of a maul, Namusasi’s attempt at the extra twos veering off to the left for a 5-3 lead.

The next chance would fall Quins’ way, only for Odiyo to fail to take his penalty within regulation time to swing possesion back to the Bankers.

KCB would blow the next scoring chance, losing an attacking scrum on the visitor’s five meter line before both teams went on to take turns making their own errors around the center line.

The Bankers would extend their lead from a move from the base of the scrum, Michael Kimwele dotting in the corner under keen attention of a couple black shirts for a 10-3 lead.

Levy Amunga would score the home team’s third, latching onto a kick from about the halfway line before shrugging off a nonchalant Collins Bett to ground the ball, Namusasi failing the time test in his attempt to line up the kick for the extras to make matters 15-3 as Saidi’s whistle signalled half time.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Quins were quicker off the blocks, capitalising on an erroneous start by the Bankers to score by the uprights through Marion Abungu after a string of carries, Odiyo adding the twos to make it a five point game at this point.

Lionel Ajeliti would make it 18-10 from the boot before missing another chance to extend the home team’s lead after his kick sailed wide to the left. Ajeliti would miss another sitter inside the 22 for a 18-10 full time score.
