Kabras Sugar booked their place in the Kenya Cup final for a record 10th consecutive time after a commanding second-half performance that saw Jackson Siketi bag a brace on his debut at this stage, securing a 45-6 victory.

Heading into the match, Kabras had won all nine of their previous semi-finals since promotion, defeating Nakuru, Kenya Harlequin (twice), Strathmore (twice), Homeboyz (twice), Mwamba, and Nondies. They were determined to extend that perfect record.

Strong start for Kabras RFC

Kabras started impressively, earning an early try after a patient build-up that created an overload. Ntabeni Dukisa linked up with teenage sensation Jackson Siketi, who sliced through the defense to score the opening try.

Dukisa’s conversion, however, went wide, leaving Kabras with a slim lead.

The Sugarmen continued to press but struggled to capitalize on their opportunities. Nondies made their first meaningful visit into Kabras’ half count, slotting in a penalty to cut the deficit to just two points.

Kabras responded by stretching their lead when the ball was recycled out wide to Griffin Chao, who finished off a well-worked move.

Despite their dominance, Kabras found themselves penalized several times in the Nondies’ zone, missing crucial scoring chances. However, Dukisa slotted in a penalty just before halftime.

Nondies suffered setbacks, losing Ryan Odua to a yellow card before Stormy Odhiambo was sent off for a high tackle on Ephraim Oduor.

Kabras nearly added another try before the break, but Walter Okoth’s chance was disallowed for a forward pass, leaving the halftime score at 13-3.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The second half saw Kabras shift into high gear, scoring 32 unanswered points. It started with Dukisa slotting in another penalty to make it 16-3.

The Sugarmen then unleashed a brilliant offloading sequence that ended with Patrice Lumumba diving over for a try. Dukisa converted from a tight angle, stretching the lead to 23-3.

Nondies managed to pull back a penalty, trimming the score to 23-6, but that was the last time they troubled the scoreboard.

Kabras’ relentless attack continued as Alfred Orege cut in from the wing to extend the lead. Collins Indeche, making his return from suspension, made an immediate impact, scoring a center-post try, which Eric Cantona—who had replaced Dukisa after the 60th minute—converted.

Teenager Siketi then wrapped up the win in style, racing down the right before cutting inside to score his second try of the game. Cantona added the extras, sealing Kabras’ emphatic 45-6 victory.

With the win, Kabras march into yet another Kenya Cup final, where they will aim to defend their title and cement their dominance in Kenyan rugby.
