Daystar Falcons have made history by earning promotion to the Kenya Cup after a commanding 29-10 victory over Catholic Monks at Daystar Grounds, Athi River.
The win sees Caleb Bosire’s charges ascend to the top tier after narrowly missing out last season. Daystar Falcons will now join MMUST Rugby Club, who sealed their return to the Kenya Cup with a dominant 46-9 victory over Zetech.
Daystar Falcons rise
Daystar previously won the 2021/22 KRU Nationwide title, defeating Zetech Oaks 30-13 in the final at RFUEA Grounds on April 23, 2022. They have since spent three seasons in the second tier before finally earning their breakthrough.
This latest triumph also completes a season double over Catholic Monks, having edged them 16-15 in the regular season.

With the defeat, Catholic Monks remain in the second tier for another season, alongside Homeboyz, who were relegated from the top flight last year.
Daystar Falcons and MMUST will replace Mwamba and South Coast Pirates, who have been relegated from the Kenya Cup this season.
