The knockout stage pairings for the Hong Kong 7s have been confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage matches at Kai Tak Stadium on Saturday.
The men’s competition resumes at 11:15 AM East African Time, with Kenya 7s facing USA 7s in the first 9th place semi-final. South Africa 7s, who also dropped into the 9th place playoffs, will take on Uruguay 7s at 11:38 AM.
Hong Kong 7s quarters
In the Cup quarter-finals, Australia 7s will battle Great Britain 7s, while the in-form Argentina 7s face Ireland 7s. The other quarter-final clashes will see Spain 7s take on Fiji 7s, with New Zealand 7s set to play France 7s in a highly anticipated encounter.
Following a captivating inaugural season for World Rugby’s revamped and rebranded global celebration of rugby sevens, the HSBC SVNS 2025 will feature seven events across seven months in seven iconic global destinations.

Six regular-season events will take place in Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Singapore, determining the HSBC SVNS League Winners. The top eight teams will then qualify for the winner-takes-all HSBC SVNS World Championship in Los Angeles, scheduled for May 3-4, 2025. This event, hosted at the LA 2028 Olympic rugby venue, will crown the men’s and women’s SVNS champions.
Additionally, Los Angeles will host the SVNS Playoff, where teams ranked 9th to 12th will compete alongside the top four teams from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger for a place in the following season’s core series.
In a landmark year for women’s rugby, World Rugby has reinforced its commitment to growing the women’s game. All HSBC SVNS events will feature equal participation fees for men’s and women’s teams, ensuring both competitions share the global stage equally.
For the first time in history, the HSBC SVNS 2025 will feature an all-female panel of match officials for the women’s competition, marking a significant milestone in rugby officiating.
