Kenya 7s suffered a narrow 12-7 defeat to Great Britain in their second match of the Hong Kong 7s, played on Friday at Kai Tak Sports Park.

Both teams had won their opening matches and needed another victory to secure a spot in the cup quarter-finals. Shujaa, coming off an impressive win over Spain, were looking to build momentum and keep their knockout stage hopes alive.

Patrick Odongo opened the scoring for Shujaa, bursting through the defence to touch down, with Nygel Amaitsa converting for a 7-0 lead.

Great Britain responded by capitalizing on a well-placed cross-kick, scoring a converted try to level the match at 7-7 before halftime.

In the second half, Luke Mehson executed a well-timed grubber kick down the right wing, racing onto it to score, giving Great Britain a 12-7 advantage.

Great Britain managed to secure the ball and kick it out, denying Kenya a last-gasp chance to equalize.
