The Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) has appointed Nsikelelo Sibanda as the new Head Coach of the Senior National Women’s Rugby team, the Lady Sables.
Sibanda takes over from Lissy Wasarirevu, whose contract expired in February 2025. ZRU expressed gratitude to Wasarirevu for her dedication and leadership during her tenure.
Sibanda brings a wealth of experience to the role, holding a World Rugby Level 3 coaching certification and boasting multiple club-level championships. He has also served as Director of Rugby and a Board Member at ZRU.
“The Zimbabwe Rugby Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Nsikelelo Sibanda as Head Coach of the Lady Sables. He replaces Lissy Wasarirevu, whose contract ended in February 2025. The union would like to thank her for her dedication and leadership in that role,” ZRU stated.

ZRU highlighted Sibanda’s strong leadership credentials, noting his role as a World Rugby Match Commissioner and Board Member of Harare Province Rugby. His expertise in rugby development makes him a valuable addition to the Lady Sables’ technical team.
Zimbabwe is currently preparing for the Rugby Africa Cup, set to take place in Ivory Coast in April 2025. The team will fine-tune their preparations by competing in the Nedbank Challenge as part of their warm-up schedule.
