Menengai Oilers showcased their dominance with a commanding 56-3 win over Impala Saracens in round 8 of the Kenya Cup on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
The Oilers struck early with Samuel Ovwamu breaking through the Impala defence to score in the 12th minute, followed by a successful conversion from Timothy Omela.
Menengai Oilers early tries
The home side quickly added to their lead with a try from captain Chrispine Shitundo, again converted by Omela, making it 14-0.
Beldad Ogeta then took center stage, scoring three consecutive tries in the second quarter, each converted by Omela.
Ovwamu grabbed his second try after exploiting a defensive lapse, and Omela added the conversion to make it 42-0.
Omela capped off the first half with a brilliant try and successful conversion in the final minute, bringing the halftime score to 49-0.

In the second half, Impala Saracens looked to regroup. They got on the scoreboard eight minutes after the restart with a penalty by Sultan Mikael.
Coach Gibson Weru made a substitution after Vincent Mwikhali was forced off with an injury, bringing on Allan Ochieng.
Samuel Were extended the Oilers’ lead to 56-3 with a try following a successful scrum, though a try by David Kipchirchir was disallowed for a forward pass.
The final score remained 56-3, ensuring Menengai Oilers continued their undefeated streak in the Kenya Cup this season, with their points tally rising to 40.
