Upon his appointment, Odera expressed excitement and a sense of responsibility, acknowledging the scale of the task ahead.
“I look forward to implementing the three-legged African stool, a concept inspired by Nobel Laureate Wangari Maathai. The pillars are: Transformational Leadership, Science and Data-Driven Planning and Decision-Making, and Developing a Kenyan Rugby Identity focused on technical, tactical, physical, and psychological excellence,” Odera told KRU media.
Odera brings extensive experience to the role, having previously coached the Kenya U20 team, Chipu, leading them to qualify for the 2019 World Rugby U20 Trophy. His leadership helped cultivate young talent and instill a competitive edge in the squad.
