Kabras RFC’s second-string side put on a dazzling display, overpowering Blak Blad 90-0 in the Eric Shirley Shield match played at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday.
The match kicked off at 1 PM and saw Kabras dominate in set pieces, with Kabras excelling in scrums throughout the game.
The onslaught began early, with Andrew Wangila opening the scoring, though the conversion was missed. Hillary Salano followed with a try that Samuel Omollo successfully converted. Roy Maruti and Biden Hayo added to the tally with straightforward tries, both of which Omollo converted.
Mike Murithi also crossed the whitewash, but Omollo’s conversion attempt was unsuccessful. Omollo quickly made amends, converting Hayo’s second try. The first-half scoring spree concluded with winger Brian Kiptoo and Maruti each dotting down, giving Kabras a commanding 50-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was no different as Kabras picked up right where they left off. Kiptoo grabbed his second try before Hayo completed his hat trick. Humphrey Asiligwa joined the party with a try, and substitute Rueben Amani added his name to the scoresheet, further stretching the lead.
Omollo, despite an earlier missed conversion, was back on target, adding the extras to Clinton Litali’s try and Kiptoo’s hat-trick effort. The second-string side’s performance ensured maximum points in a one-sided encounter.
Elsewhere in the Eric Shirley Shield, KCB Rugby outclassed Kenya Harlequin with a 63-0 win in Nairobi while Menengai Oilers recorded a convincing 46-3 victory over Nondescripts. Strathmore edged Impala 31-20.
