Jone Kubu bereaved as Kabras RFC extend condolences

Fijian-born Kenyan international Jone Kubu has lost his father and uncle, Kabras RFC announced in a heartfelt statement on their social media platforms.

The Sugarmen conveyed their condolences to the utility back, who has represented the Kenya Simbas since 2021 and contributed to two Elgon Cup triumphs. The departed father and uncle are set to be laid to rest this Thursday.

“We extend our deepest condolences to our back Jone Kubu and his family during this difficult time. Losing both your father and uncle is an unimaginable loss, and our hearts go out to you.

Kubu has been a vital part of the Kabras squad since 2015, playing key roles in their Kenya Cup triumphs in 2016, 2021, and 2022. Despite missing the 2023/24 Kenya Cup season due to injury, where he only featured in one match, Kubu has made a return this season, first appearing against Impala RFC.

Although yet to regain his top form, the playmaker remains the club’s leading points scorer and second on the try-scorers list. So far this season, he has scored five tries and successfully converted 19 kicks.
