The 14th edition of the annual Webuye 10s Tournament senior category kicked off successfully on Friday, December 27 2024 at Sudi Grounds in Bungoma.
For the first time in 15 years, this year’s edition is being held at the Sudi Rugby grounds adjacent to Sudi Stadium, away from the tournament’s natural home at Webuye DEB grounds.
Webuye 10s hosts
In a tight encounter, Kimobo secured a 07-05 victory over Webuye RFC in the first match of the day before Bungoma managed a dominant 19- 00 win over Bokoli. Bukembe also managed to frustrate Maraka to secure a 19-00 win, as Kitale picked up a 34-00 win over Kibingei.
To wrap up the first round, Turbo snatched a 07-00 win over Olympus, with Lugulu inflicting a 27-00 loss on Matisi.
Bungoma RFC managed their second win after dominating territory to snatch a dominant 19-00 win over Webuye. Kimobo also registered their second win with a 26-05 victory over Bokoli. Bukembe outwitted Kibingei to bag a 12-00 win, while Kitale maintained their dominant run as they outshone Maraka to secure a 14-05 win.

Olympus managed their first win after a hard-fought 05-03 win over Matisi as Kisiwa downed Lugulu downed Turbo to manage a 31-00 win. Webuye got their first win 14-00 over Bokoli with Kimobo defeating Bungoma 07-00 as Shinyalu settled for a 21-21 draw against Kibabii in the other match.
The competition will continue tomorrow, Saturday, 28 December 2024. Kibabii will face off with NYS. Bukembe will play against Kitale, while Maraka will square off with Kibingei. Olympus will take on Lugulu. Turbo will lock horns with Matisi in the other match.
