Eastern Uganda Rugby Association announces return Eastern Giant Cup

The Eastern Giants Cup is set to return on Saturday, 23rd November 2024 and  the tournament will run until 12th December 2024, featuring exciting matches and expanded participation.

Organized by the Eastern Uganda Rugby Association (EURA), the event promises thrilling competition with four men’s teams and, for the first time, two women’s teams battling for supremacy.

Participating teams include Jinja Hippos, Walukuba Barbarians, Njeru Hurricanes, and Elgon Wolves in the men’s division while the women’s has  Nile Rapids and She Wolves.

The tournament will take place at the iconic Dam Waters Rugby Grounds, where fans can expect electrifying matches, passionate crowds, and impressive displays of rugby talent.

“This year’s Eastern Giants Cup is set to be the best yet,” said a representative from EURA. “With the support of The Office Bar and Restaurant, we are expanding the competition to include both men’s and women’s teams, showcasing the growth and inclusivity of rugby in the Eastern Region.”

Opening Day Fixtures – Saturday, 23rd November 2024

  • 12:00 PM: Women’s Round 1 – Nile Rapids vs. She Wolves
  • 2:00 PM: Men’s Semi-Final 1 – Walukuba Barbarians vs. Elgon Wolves
  • 4:00 PM: Men’s Semi-Final 2 – Jinja Hippos vs. Njeru Hurricanes
