The pools for the 2024 Safari 7s have been unveiled ahead of the tournament, which will be held at Machakos Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
Reigning champions Shujaa, who claimed victory last year, are the top seeds and have been placed in Pool A. They will face Zimbabwe, Lions Rugby, Qatar Rugby, and the Kenya Varsity Select team.
Safari 7s Pool B
In Pool B, Uganda, who secured third place in the 2023 edition, will go head-to-head with Morans, Kenya Harlequin—the National 7s Circuit champions—alongside invitational sides Shogun Rugby, who were runners-up last year, and Red Wailers.
The ladies’ competition will follow a round-robin format, featuring teams such as Costablanca Barbarians, Shogun, Kenya Lionesses, defending champions Uganda, Kenya Cup, and Uganda 2.
Shujaa are looking to complete a treble, having won the Safari 7s title last year after a commanding 19-0 win over Samurai 7s in the final held at RFUEA Grounds. They also won the 2021 edition and are eager to replicate that success.

The Safari 7s is an annual rugby sevens tournament that attracts international teams, professional and amateur clubs, and university and school teams. Traditionally held at the RFUEA Grounds, the event has shifted venues over the years, including Nyayo National Stadium and Moi International Sports Centre. After being hosted at RFUEA and Nyayo in recent years, the tournament will take place in Machakos this year.
The action kicks off on Friday morning with age-grade teams from across the country competing, before senior teams officially launch their campaigns with one match later in the afternoon.
