The Kenya Morans squad for the 2024 Safari 7s, scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday at Machakos Stadium, has been confirmed.

Mike Wekesa, who played a pivotal role in Zetech Oaks’ strong run in the National 7s Circuit, has been named in the squad, alongside his teammate Brian Ondego. They will be joined by Daystar Falcons duo Augustine Owino and Arnold Agonda.

National 7s Circuit Champions with Kenya Harlequin David Williams, Leonard Fogang, and Harmony Wamalwa—who finished as the top points scorer in the circuit—have also been included in the squad.

Jackson Siketi, initially selected for the Shujaa squad, has been moved to the Morans lineup alongside Patrick Lumumba. Floyd Wabwire, Elvis Olukusi, and Festus Shiasi, who captains the team, are retained from previous campaigns.

The Morans will be aiming to improve on their fifth-place finish in the 2023 edition of the Safari 7s.

Earlier this week, four additional teams were confirmed for the 2024 Safari 7s. Lions Rugby and Red Wailers will join the competition, while National 7s Circuit Champions Kenya Harlequin and a Kenya Varsity select side representing Kenyan universities are also set to compete.

These teams will join those announced earlier during the launch of the Tusker sponsorship. Kenya’s national rugby team will field two squads: Shujaa and Morans. Regular participants Uganda Cranes and Shogun Rugby (formerly Samurai Rugby) are set to return, alongside Zimbabwe.
