Uganda’s late comeback fell short as they trailed by 3 points when the clock went red, allowing Tunisia U20 women to secure their first victory with a 17-14 win in the African U20 Women Series held in Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Tunisia took the lead in the 14th minute after multiple attempts, finally breaking through Uganda’s solid defence to score a converted try.
The North Africans then extended their lead with five more points added by their inside centre, closing the first half at 12-0.
In the second half, Tunisia added an unconverted try, widening the gap to 17-0. However, Uganda mounted a late comeback, starting in the 71st minute when their number 8, Opileni, scored a try, which was successfully converted.

Shortly after, Tunisia conceded a penalty try due to a high tackle, their third yellow card of the match, gifting Uganda seven more points.
Despite being down to 12 players, Tunisia managed to hold off the full-strength Uganda team, securing a hard-fought victory in the R10 African U20 Women Series.
