Uganda 7s squads named ahead of Willem Straus International 7s

The Uganda Rugby Union has announced the Uganda 7s and Women’s 7s squads that will compete in the inaugural Willem Strauss International Rugby 7s Tournament, scheduled to take place from September 6-9, 2024, in Modimolle (Nylstroom), South Africa.

The Men’s squad features Rhinos’ Allan Olango, Heathens’ Malcom Oketch, and the Mongers’ duo Robin Odrua and William Lukwago, among others.

The Willem Strauss International Rugby 7s Tournament will host teams from across the globe, including the Blitzboks and the Springbok Women’s 7s team, along with other international teams.

“We are honoured to receive this invitation to the Willem Strauss International Rugby 7s Tournament and look forward to having our teams participate,” Isaac Lutwama, CEO of the Uganda Rugby Union said.

Uganda’s participation in this tournament has been made possible through URU’s partnership with Blue Bulls Rugby. It serves as an important step in preparing their teams for the 2025 Challenger Series, which begins in January 2025.
