KSSSA National 7s: Koyonzo, St Mary’s Yala and Vihiga enjoy winning starts

KSSSA National 7s Rugby opening round witnessed tough encounters in Kisii County with defending Champions Koyonzo St Mary’s Yala and Vihiga bagging maximum points on Monday.

In the boys category, the East Africa defending champions Koyonzo Boys have won their day two match managing a 28-15 win over Malindi in the first round and 10-05 win over Otieno Oyoo. 

The hosts Kisii School were dominant in their first round score after managing a 38-00 win over St. Mary’s High school Lushangoni before drawings in the second round 19-19 against M-pesa Foundation Academy.

The Nyanza Region Champions St. Mary’s Yala started their chase for the title with dominant runs as they rolled over M-pesa foundation in the first round to secure a 36-00 win and 26-00 over their Coastal side St. Mary’s High school Lushangoni. 

Vihiga Boys have also had an unbeaten run starting their run with a 17-00 win over academic giants Alliance boys before closing the day with a 05-00 win over upperhill. 

Kabianga Boys have also displayed dominance as they walked over Anjego Boys in the first round to secure a 14-05 win before ending their day with a 05-00 win over Kangaru School.

In the girls category,  St. Joseph’s Girls Kitale and the rugby 15s champions are living up to their name after managing a 36-00 win over Dagoretti in the first round and 07-05 win over Kinale Girls. 

Madira Girls are also in the dominant side having managed two undisputed win over Paul Harris after a 17-07 win and a 27-00 over Sidindi. 

Bungoma county girls champions Mbakalo girls suffered a first loss to Kinale girls 10-15 before they managed a 10-00 win over Dagoretti.

St Theresa have also held onto a streak managing two wins of the day after a 24-00 run over Muvuti before they culminated their day 07-00 win over JM Kariuki.
