Namibia rugby have finalised their squad that will be on duty in the Rugby Africa Cup set for July 20-29 in Uganda at Nelson Mandela Stadium Namboole.
Coach Allister Coetzee has retained Johan Retief, Adriaan Booysen, Jason Benade, Alcino Isaacs and Des Sethie who were part of the match-day 23 which defeated Kenya Simbas 36-0 in France in 2022 to qualify for the Rugby World Cup 2023.

Other players in the squad include Uruguay’s Peñarol hooker Obert Nortje, Under 20 front rower Ian Klitzke, and veteran lock Mahepisa Tjeriko among others.
Divan Rossouw, Gershwin Mouton, Daman Stevens and Cliven Loubser are some of the key players who have missed out on the squad.

The Rugby Africa tournament will feature the eight best teams in Africa including Kenya, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and Burkina Faso.
The tournament will kick off on Saturday, July 20, 2024. In the first quarterfinal, Namibia will face Burkina Faso, followed by Kenya Simbas taking on Senegal in the second quarterfinal.

Algeria will play against the Ivory Coast, while the Zimbabwe Sables are paired with Uganda in the Cup quarterfinals.
The winner of the Kenya Simbas vs. Senegal match will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the Algeria vs. Ivory Coast quarterfinal on Wednesday, July 24.
