Kenya Morans are through to the Africa Men’s 7s fifth-place final after a 22-5 win over Ivory Coast in the fifth-place semi-final match played on Sunday at Labourdonnais Sports Grounds, Mauritius.
Heading into this match, Kenya had been knocked out of cup contention after losing 12-7 to South Africa. Ivory Coast were defeated by Uganda in extra time after a 10-10 draw in regular time.
Kenya Morans first try
Edmund Anya paced down the left wing to score the opening try, which Festus Shiasi converted for a 7-0 lead. Kenya struck again on the right side, with William Mwanji crossing over for a 12-0 advantage.
Ivory Coast responded with a converted try, but their efforts to land an equalizer were thwarted when their kick bounced out of play, prompting the referee to call for halftime.

Victor Odhiambo landed the third try for Kenya before Festus Shiasi set up Denis Abukuse for the fourth try, pushing the score to 22-5.
Kenya will face the winner of the semi-final between Zimbabwe and Mauritius to determine who finishes fifth.
