The South Africa 7s team, also known as the Blitzboks, is set to participate in the Africa Men’s 7s tournament, as confirmed by the hosts, Mauritius.

The organizers have announced that the Blitzboks will compete in the event slated for the Labourdonnais Sports Club.

“The South Africa rugby sevens team, commonly known as the Blitzboks, will be among us for the 2nd edition of the Mauritius 7’s Tournament this week. Come & enjoy the Blitzboks playing in the Mauritius 7’s tournament on 29-30 June & 6-7 July at the Labourdonnais Sports Club,” Mauritius Rugby announced.

The Blitzboks have rarely featured in the Africa Men’s 7s. They participated in the 2014 edition, winning the final 38-5 against Zimbabwe in Harare.

They made a comeback in 2023, competing for an Olympic slot, but lost 17-12 to Kenya 7s in Harare, with Shujaa avenging their 2014 defeat.

The Africa Men’s 7s 2024 will be played over two weekends, with the team accumulating the most overall points being crowned champions.

Both Kenya and South Africa are expected to field different squads, as their main teams prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
