Uganda Rugby Union has announced a job vacancy for a team manager for the Lady Cranes Rugby 7s and the deadline for receiving applications is 20th December 2023 at 5:00 p.m.
The new team manager will have a key role to play in a pivotal and demanding year for the Lady Cranes sevens.
The manager will manage the affairs and logistics of the team and coach the group to ensure the team delivers on its target.
The manager will report directly to the technical committee and will work with the CEO and CTO directly at HQ.

The terms of reference and key responsibilities expected from the team manager will be to; liaise between union executive and the national team camp, liaise between headquarters and the national team comp, maintain accounts of the national team, tracking expenditure in line with budget,prepare all logical support for the national team regarding training preparation, travel preparation, maintain team moral directly through man management and where possible with assistance from sports psychologists and scientists.
The manager will be expected to maintain an equipment inventory with the help of a kit manager, support the head coaching team selection, data preparation and data tracking,should monitor team mood through team leadership group and keep team and all the coaches collaborative, maintain team discipline and oversee all internal disciplinary hearings, maintain team management in the camp,be teams spokesperson unless another is appointed by the executive and headquarters, red, understand and comply with all tournament manuals, ensure Uganda is not penalized for any non-compliance,keep track of all deadlines regarding all preparations of the team for international engagements and inform headquarters of any looming bottlenecks early enough.
The manager will ensure that he/she works with the CEO to seek out possible commercial opportunities to enhance the teams campaign.
Under stakeholder management, the manager should ensure an environment where excellent relationships with all secunders including coaches, players, HQ and ExCom and external stakeholders like Media, sponsors, fans and clubs that can help deliver positive for rugby.
The manager will ensure proper consultation and proper financial Management.
The applicant is required to have the following personal and professional skills; an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualifications in sports management, applicant should be one who understands working and demands of the sports team and have at least two years or more demonstrated experiences in a small role.
The applicant should have visionary thinking, relate to wide variety of rugby enthusiasts, strong management and leadership skills, create communication and interpersonal skills, the applicant should be able to manage time and organize properly and also should be computer literate, should have knowledge about the sport, the applicant should be an active listener, understand teamwork, be responsible, should be dependable motivational, should be flexible, patient, empathetic and should be analytically mindset.
Performance measures required are achieving budget, financial and operational outcomes, ensuring smooth logistical operations for the team, maintaining accurate and update team data and records of activity including players personal data example passports, contacts, training records, etc, preparing activity reports at the end of each team event, work with HQ to maintain accurate ledgers of all the teams financial requirements and expenses, work with the team Media to ensure records are maintained for the entire team.
Personal and behavioral attributes required include, creative and innovative, high personal and professional integrity ability to think strategically, analyze problems and issues,respond creatively and translate, implement strategy into results,possess the intellect cultural competency and flexibility to work effectively in a collaborative, values driven and energetic, numerate details and have energy mentally and physically enthusiastic and driven.
The applicant should be able to relate well with team coaches and medical team, the players, Uganda Rugby Union, HQ, Media, clubs, world rugby and rugby Africa, tournament directors and hosts.
This position is located at the Lugogo bypass. The role will be five days per week, consideration will be given to a flexible working hours arrangement. There will be some weekend work and extended hours required at various times. URU I just applicants to be specific in the application if one requires a flexible hour working arrangement.
