St. Michael Kipsombe have retained the Uasin Gishu County rugby 7s title after they defeated the Chebisas 14-5 in the final.

Kipsombe defeated Teldet 26-0 in the semi-final while their opponents secured a 12-5 win against the Kabongo high school.

St Michael, a Sub-county school will now for the fifth time represent the county at the regional level.

“We are just a sub-county school that has humbled most of this extra county, county and National schools within the county,” Coach Timothy Natembeya.

The school which is located in Soi sub-county has displayed good rugby despite most of their best players having cleared school.

“I am happy as a coach as my boys have made me proud despite the lack of intense support compared to the other giant schools in the county, since the covid 19 break that led to most of our experienced players completing their high school level education,” noted the coach.

“I believe what makes my team outstanding is the fact that I was once a rugby player in my high school and university level and the positivity and boldness of making my team know that they are unbeaten despite their status at school level,” he added.

The team will be progressing for the Regionals on the 18th -22nd of July in Laikipia Nyahururu.
