Kenya 7s suffered the second consecutive loss to New Zealand, going down 31-5 in the second Pool A match played on Friday.
New Zealand came to this keen to book a place in the quarters with a game to spare. Kenya needed a positive result from this encounter to keep the quarterfinal qualification hopes alive since the pool had been blown wide open following Canada’s win over Uruguay.
The All Blacks started off impressively, running three unanswered tries before the halftime break. First it was Che Clarke who scored the opener while Regan Ware had a break and scored the second try to stretch the lead.
Roderick Solo latched on a cross kick to score an easy try for a 19-0 lead. In the second half, Solo scored his second try before Moses Leo landed their final try.
Denis Abukuse scored Kenya 7s consolation try as the game ended 31-5. Though the pool is still wide open.
New Zealand lead with six points, Canada and Uruguay have four points while Kenya have two.
Shujaa will play Canada on Saturday 1:21 PM EAT.
