The Rift Valley Region 15s matches kicked off on Wednesday with Jomo Kenyatta, Kipsombe, St Patrick and Ortum picking wins at Eldoret Hill School.
Kapsabet Boys and Nanyuki also got win in their openers but failed to pick wins in their second matches.
Kapsabet Boys 36-6 Kilgoris
Kapsabet Boys impressed with a commanding 36-6 victory over Kilgoris. The game saw Kapsabet take an early lead with a try within the first three minutes, followed by two more from Lock Kimorco Salaash in the ninth and 12th minute, extending their lead to 17-0.
Kilgoris responded with a penalty before Shadrack Kiptoo secured a converted try, giving Kapsabet a 24-3 lead at halftime.
Kapsabet scored two more tries in the second half, converting one, while Kilgoris managed only a penalty
Nanyuki 7-5 Ngong
In the second match of the day, Nanyuki narrowly defeated Ngong 7-5 in a closely contested match. Both tries were scored in the first half, with Ngong taking an early lead through an unconverted try in the 10th minute, only for Nanyuki to respond with a converted try from centre Jonathan Mwongela in the 14th minute.
Nanyuki held on to their slim lead for the remainder of the match.
Kipsombe 13-0 Longisa
Kipsombe secured a 13-0 victory over Longisa in the third match, with a penalty and try in the first half giving them an 8-0 lead at halftime.
Kipsombe added another try in the second half to seal their win.
St Patrick 12-3 St Antony
St Patrick proved too strong for Trans Nzoia Champions, St Antony, with a 12-3 victory. St Patrick took an early lead with a converted try, before St Antony responded with a penalty.
However, St Patrick added an unconverted try to lead 12-3 at halftime, with no further points scored in the second half.
Ortum 5-3 Kapsabet
Ortum handed Kapsabet a 5-3 defeat in Kapsabet’s second match of the day. Kapsabet who won 36-6 in the opener conceded one try in the first half with and a penalty in the second half was not enough to save them from dropping points.
Nanyuki 0-15 Jomo Kenyatta
Nakuru County Champions Jomo Kenyatta kicked off their chase with a 15-0 over Nanyuki who had won their opener against Ngong.
James Mairu’s try was converted by Martin Karuru for a 7-0 halftime lead. Six minutes into the second half, Karuru drilled in a penalty before their centre landed a try just two minutes to the final whistle for the side to start off on a high.
