Alex Mutai new Kenya Rugby Union Chairman, Olendo, Ahaya and Kayange voted in

Alexander Kiplagat Mutai will assume office as the new Kenya Rugby Union Chairman after being unopposed in the elections held on Wednesday 29 March 2023.

He replaces Oduor Gangla who served just for one term and will have Moses Ndale as his vice chairman, Joshua Aroni as the treasurer, Ray Olendo as the Hon Secretary and Harriet Achieng Okach, John Kilonzo, Moses Mukabane, Ochieng Ahaya, Humphrey Kayange and Leslie Mwange as the directors.

Okach, Kilonzo, Mukabane, Ahaya were elected to assume office in the elections on Wednesday.

In the by elections done earlier, former Kabras RFC Chairman Olendo, got elected as the new Secretary General of the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU).

Olendo secured 18 votes and narrowly beating Oscar Mango, who received 17 votes.

In addition to Olendo’s election, Ndale was elected as the new vice chairman, defeating Ombui Ratemo with a vote tally of 19 to 16.

Former Kenya Sevens captain, Kayange, was also elected as one of the two directors, receiving 18 votes. Leslie Mwangale was the other director elected, securing 19 votes.

Dr. Joshua Aroni Makiya has retained his position as the treasurer after being unopposed in the elections.

The new election results bring a fresh perspective to the Kenya Rugby Union, and fans will be eagerly anticipating the impact that the new office will have on the sport in Kenya.
