Kenya 7s beat Canada to book place in Dubai 7s ninth place semis

Kenya 7s picked the first win in the 2023 World 7s Series as they beat Canada 17-7 to qualify for the Dubai 7s ninth place playoffs semis at the Sevens Stadium.

Shujaa will now face Fiji in the ninth place semis of the competition.  Fiji beat East African side Uganda 29-14 in the ninth place quarters.

Shujaa’s day one

Damian McGrath charges had picked two draws and a loss and finished bottom in their pool with five points and landed a date against Canada who were third in Pool D.

in the match, Shujaa scored the opener through Herman Humwa in the fifth minute of the game but Canada came from behind and scored a try through Josiah Morra which Brock Webster  converted for a 7-5 halftime lead.

In the final half, Kevin Wekesa and Billy Odhiambo scored a try each and all went unanswered as Shujaa proceeded to the semis.
